Solve : PC BASED CCTV SYSTEM PROBLEM.........?

Answer»

HELLO CAN ANYBODY ADVISE/HELP/ WE HAVE THE FOLLOWING SPEC PC
2.66GHZ
248 RAM
INTEL EXTREME GRAPHICS CARD 82865G 64MB
USB 2.0 CONNECTION

WE HAVE INSTALLED 4X CCTV CAMERAS WHICH ALL FEED INTO A CONVERTER BOX, THEN INTO THE PC VIA THE USB 2.0 CONNECTION I MENTIONED ABOVE. THE SOFTWARE SUPPLIED WITH THE CCTV HARDWARE DISPLAYS THE FOUR CAMERAS IMAGES IN THIER OWN SQUARE ON THE MONITOR AND IT ALSO WRITES THE RECORDINGS ONTO THE HARDDRIVE FOR FUTURE VIEWING ALL GREAT.
HOWEVER THE PICTURE DISPLAYED AND RECORDED IS GRAINED/ NOT AS SHARP AS I WOULD HAVE HOPED, THE FRAME RATE IS NOT THE BEST EITHER!!!!
I HAVE CONNECTED THE CAMERAS DIRECTLY TO A NORMAL T.V VIA THE RCA VIDEO IN PLUG AND THE PICTURE IS BRILLIANT, SO THAT PROVES TO ME THAT THE CAMERAS ARE UP TO SCRATCH.
AM I ASKING TO MUCH OF THE PC MENTIONED ABOVE? OR ARE THERE ANY WAYS TO MAKE THE PC DEVOTE MORE OF ITS PROSSESING POWER TO THE CCTV/RECORDING SOFTWARE?
ANY HELP WOULD BE GREAT. MW Hard to read it when it's all in CAPS.
Please lose the capitals except in the right place.
What OS?
What CPU type?
And how old is the PC?
What software are you using to capture the video?Sorry for caps!!
Windows XP
Dell intel
2 Years old
Software is provided with camera system. (AVI) i think
hope this helps..Does the PC itself run OK?No problems atall. normal.Use Task Manager to set the PRIORITY of the recording process higher, that may help.
Also update your drivers and get the latest Windows Updates, defragment the HDD.Thank you.. in your opinion would you say the graphics card is any good???No.
Check the GPU FAQ for details.
