Solve : PC Components?

Answer»

Hey everyone. =)

I've been looking around for new parts for a PC, but half of the lingo is still a bit double-dutch to me. I'm just wondering if anyone would mind taking the time to tell me if these parts would actualy work together before I end up throwing money down a hole. Any help would be very appreciated. =)

Graphics card

Motherboard

CPU

RAM

And finally, the thing to make it all go:

Power supply

Again, any advice would be greatly appreciated.Looks good. I'd get another brand of videocard, though. XFX or ASUS.Quote

that one is just fine! :-/I don't see case fans listed there. Are you putting this into a case that already has fans? If not, you should THINK about putting a couple in. i think thats a given, he's interested in the hardware aspects.
maybe he can post his case?
Oh yes, the case. The one I'm currently using is about 7 years old and pretty battered, so I was looking to buy a new one anyway.

As for the fan, would a 12cm one built-in to the new case be enough? Or should I grab an extra fan on top of it?

And THANKS for the help guys, makes me feel a lot more confident in what I'm buying. =) Just gotta search around to get the absolute best price now. =)There is some difficulty in getting a motherboard that fits the case properly and the power supply plug needs to match the receptacle on the board. Many motherboards today have onboard video, sound and ethernet card. If it doesn't make sure there are 4 or 5 pci slots to plug cards into. the power supply has a fan in it, the cpu needs a fan and the chassis needs a fan. The case should have adequate ventilation slots for air to move in and out. Some are badly designed.

Alright, well u got a pretty good system.

2 things u MUST change:

-CPU: Core 2 Duo E6300 for 125$ can be overclocked to be even better than the FX-62 (not to mention MUCH better than the CPU u have written)

-Graphics Card: The 7950 GT is a good card, but the 7900 GTO is even better for 50$ less (2 companies put it out in order to get rid of their G71 chips). It even beats the X1900XT 512MB in price!!

This means u have to change the motherboard aswell. X975XBX is a good choice, but id wait for nForce 690 SLI motherboards.I have the ASUS A8N-SLI . The book recommends a minimum of 600 watts, so what you have listed should be good.Quote

I'm SORRY Raptor, but u are mistaken. There is no such thing as "high quality" graphics cards, as each manufacturer produces the exact same product in the end.

XFX is a company that sells u 2 things - a graphics card.. and its name. For some reason, the XFX cards are more expensive than any other company, and far more expensive than companies like Leadtek and Connect3D who make quality cards (just like XFX), but for a lot less.

What the heck is this supposed to mean ? ?
Sorry but i don't understand this at all...Quote
