Solve : PC Monitor turns on and off when I plug my LED TV?

Answer»

Hi all!

When I plugged my Samsung TV to my PC via HDMI 2.0 cable (5 meters long), it worked fine. After a short time (HOURS), when I try to plug it again, my TV stays black, and my PC monitor starts turning on and off all the time, like if Windows is trying to configure my tv but is failing. If I unplug my TV, the PC monitor starts working again just fine. I tried several HDMI cables, but the same happens after a short time of using this other cable. The HDMI cable works fine if I use it with any other device. Both my tv and GPU have HDMI 2.0 sockets. I tried this with TWO different PCs I own, one with a 1070 TI, the other one with a 3080, just in case it was the GPU/Windows/whatever. Any idea why this could be happening? Thanks in advance!Simple answer. It is the TV set. If it has a bad hardware issue, you might damage other things. IMHO you should just use that TV as a TV. Go buy a new monitor.

Yes, this is only a opinion. But I have several years as an electronic TECHNICIAN In my house just about half of the outlets are grounded. If my LAPTOP when connected to its charger, and the charger is not grounded it does not play nice with my TV. On BATTERY it is fine and w/ the charger on a grounded outlet.

Could this be similar to your problem? It is likely that your video card or motherboard in the computer is at fault if the monitor stays on but you lose the video signal. It is also possible for a computer to randomly shut down if its overheating or if the video card is defective
