Solve : PC needs heating to boot up?

Answer»

I have encountered a strange situation. My PC (DG31PR Mobo,Core2duo proc) doesn't boot up normally.Remembering of the moisture I heated inside the case for some time with an electric bulb and the PC started up.Now it is necessary for the PC to heap up all the time to get it booted up. What might be gone wrong? Please help me to sort it out.Where the heck did this moisture come from ? ?

It's a sure enemy of any electronics...Thank you Patio. I heated up the PC doubting of the atmospheric moisture. If both sides of the mobo are heated for a short while the pc will power on and work fine. otherwise ther is no power up also. But I dont know if heating a particular area suffice. I've never encountered this...how old is this machine and where is it that it sees ALOT of moisture is what i was getting at ? ?

The heat issue could also point to a faulty MBoard since the expansion from the heat somehow makes it work....
Check for any bulging/leaking capacitors on the MBoard. The elusive "hair dryer" rears it's head.......motherboard traces could be cracked and the expansion makes the connection...or maybe it's a power supply on the way out....swap in a known good unit see if it stops the problem.I guess westom was right all along.....heat is a diagnostic tool afterall. The 'moisture' was only a doubt and by which I heated the Board. Now it is almost sure that the culprit is not moisture. I too suspect it is a CRACK and expansion situation. But once booted up it works fine for hours. The machine is just 6 months old. The power supply I checked and found fine. But the problem STILL persists. Now my experiment is to find out that exact place where it has to be heated to get it started.Any suggestions to save my time?If it is only 6 months old i would RETURN it for a warranty replacement...Of course I will return it for a warranty replacement. But solving it by ourselves gives a little satisfaction. I have cornered the problem somewhere near to the processor. That is the place where it has to be heated to START upTrying to solve it this way may waste your good bucks. It seems a processor leg bad contact
