Answer» WHY IS IT THAT MY MONITOR HAS NO DISPLAY1. Power Source. Is your system plugged directly into a wall outlet or into an Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS)?
2. RAM. Don't buy new RAM, test the old RAM first. I prefer the standalone program Memtest86 which may be booted from either a floppy diskette or CD. Read the literature on its WEBSITE. (By the way... you should avoid touching any of the chips, the connectors, or anything but the edges of the memory modules. And practice safe Electro-Static Discharge (ESD) precautions).
3. Safe Mode. Boot into Safe Mode and see if the system is stable (stays up). Safe mode boots up your operating system with a MINIMAL set of device drivers. Third party device drivers are a major source of system instability. Safe mode doesn't use them. (And yes, I know... it seems more like a hardware problem.)You talking to me or the invasion of Makanas?
If me, then no, tried Safe Mode, same result.
Can't test RAM with Memtest etc..because the PC doesn't stay on long enough. (apparently it takes a while)
and yes, i plug directly into the wall. makanus you need to start a New Topic for your issue and provide alot more info.
smeltz are you saying it shuts down running MemTest also ? ?
Did you follow the THERMAL paste instructions posted ?
Let us know STEP by step what's been tried so far.
Also to determine what RAM it uses travel to Crucial's site and it will tell you. Since the machine won't stay running for any length of time you can't run the online scanner...however there is an option to wenter the machine specs manually. Good Luck.
