Answer» Everytime I unplug anything from the USB ports on the front of the pc, the whole computer shuts down! I have no idea what to do. and yes, I've searched for answers with no luck. Thank you!Sounds like the USB header connectors on the front are hooked up improperly or there's a short. Review the MBoard manual but for now i'd stop using it.Thanks, PATIO. How can I tell if it's a short? Can I leave the plugs in the ports? (after I figure out why they're not working)... Do the DRIVERS for the cam and pda affect them? What I mean is, do I have to use one port for say, the camera, and another for the pda, etc? or are they interchangable?
CONGRATS Cica on being the person to post the 500,000th post. USB stands for Universal SERIAL Bus so yes they are interchangeable. On many many manufactured machines the manuf. scrimping on costs wound up with underpowered front USB hubs... So if you can use the rear ports do so.thanks again, Patio. There are 4 ports in the back but all are in use: one is the A drive, one is the printer/scanner, one is the mouse, one is the keyboard. There are 4 ports in the front. They have addon PCI/USB cards that are simple to install and would add up to 6 more USB slots on the back of the machine...relatively INEXPENSIVE.
