Solve : Pc wont boot?

Answer»

I have an ASUS Crosshair motherboard with an Amd Athalon 64 X2 4000+ CPU. When i press the power BUTTON all the fans spool up stay on for about five sec then SHUT off. I have a LCD display on the back of my motherboard it stops on "CPU INIT". I took the CPU out and put in my girlfriends computer and it works in hers. I don't know what it could be now please help?Change out the power supply as a test, make sure its the same wattage or greater.Well the one i have in there is a 750w and the only other one i have is a 400w but i pluged in just the motherboard and the hard drive in and turned it on. It stayed on so i guess thats what the problem is.i just shut it off and try turning it on again and i did what it was doing earlier.
Wait...you took the CPU out and put it in your Girlfriends machine ? ?

Did you build this machine yourself ? ?
If so are all MBoard standoffs in place ?
4pin ATX power plugged in to the board ? ?
Was Thermal Compound applied properly ? ?

Thermal Paste GuideI have actually built both COMPUTERS. Yes all motherboard stand offs are in place. My mother board actually uses a 8 pin secondary power instead of the 4 pin. Yes the thermal compound was applied properly. What happen was one night i was playing games on it. Then i just shut it down like normal and went to bed. The next morning when i went to turn it on is when it started this whole thing about turning of like 5 sec and then turning off.Swap another PSU ( borrowed preferably ) of the same wattage or greater in there to see if this is the issue...
What brand is your PSU ? ?
XclioI'm not familiar with that brand name.my computer wont boot up at all i opened it reseated all the connections and i get nothing...

any suggestions?Maybe if you start a new topic....computerwiz, Do you see any burst or leaking capacitors on the motherboard?

Try booting up with just one stick of RAM and no drives or expansion cards plugged in.

Also this is a long shot, but it could be SOMETHING simple. Try plugging it into a different outlet. Try a different power cord. I checked for bad capacitors but i didnt see any. So i took the whole computer apart and put it back together piece by piece. Booting it up after every piece and this time every time i did it booted up just fine. It working fine now so idk what in the was wrong with it. I feel so stupid.Looks like re-seating everything did the trick! Sometimes the magic of computers will fix it once you do that!

Or mabe you just missed a plug somewhere the first time around Good Work...sometimes just sticking to it long enough gets the job done...
Stop by anytime.
