Answer» SIMPLE one please Can you connect any kind of pci express card to a pci-express x 16 slot ie ATI is a pci-express card Nvidia is a Pci-express card do they or can they both fit into the same pci-express type slot single card only not SLI or Crossfire my motherboard is crossfire compatible which i don't use i just WANT to fit a nvidia card in a single pci-express slot thank you i hope to god this make sense Quote Can you connect any kind of pci express card to a pci-express x 16 slot As long as they are x16 cards they are both compatible with x16, despite the Manufacturer. You may want to refer to the board manual, but I think if you want to use a single vid. card in a cross fire/SLI board, you have to use a determined slot..ie: only one of the two slots will WORK for single card setup.... Might want to double check on that as I said Quote from: grandpa_simpson on August 20, 2010, 01:04:42 AM As long as they are x16 cards they are both compatible with x16, despite the Manufacturer. they are simply PCI-E 16x slots. you can use either slot for a VIDEO card of either brand. The "special" feature is simply that the two slots can be used for SLI. They are still standard PCI-E 16x slots despite this.Yes you are right, I had a second look at a RANDOM board manual with SLI capabilites.. I guess I read it incorrectly at some point..Thank you so very much for the great advice now i can go get the nvidia card i want Thank you all for the time you took to reply to my post Your sincerely me |
