Answer» Here is my old computer:
Dell Dimension XPS R450 (1995-7?) Pentium II 450 MHz. (Slot 1) 576 MB RAM 150 GB Hard Drive 220 Watt Power Supply Windows XP Home Service Pack 2
I bought and installed a Pentium III 650 MHz. and it works but the BIOS recognizes it as a Pentium Pro 500 MHz. (but Windows SEES it as a Pentium 3 650). So when it worked I bought a Pentium 3 1.0 GHz. and installed it, it did not EVEN TURN on, only the heat sink fan was the only thing that turned on. The P2, P3 650, and the motherboard have FSB of 100 MHz. and the P3 1.0 GHz. runs at 133 MHz FSB and I wondered if there is some way to get it to work.
I BROUGHT the P3 1.0 GHz. to a friends house that has a P3 750 Slot 1 and tried it in there and it worked so I know that it works and I upgraded the BIOS of my old computer to BIOS A13 too. and that did not work.
Thanks!
