Answer» Well I am having some trouble getting a computer running, It has windows 98 on it and it runs FINE (computer designed for XP), but I have been trying to put windows xp or 2000 on there, but when I do the computer seems to dump the memory and DISPLAYS the PFN_LIST_CORRUPT blue screen, I have searched other forums for answers and I have tried this so far:
-RESEATED RAM -Ran Memtest 86 V3.4 (no errors were found) -Replaced HDD -Reset the CMOS
The only thing I have not done yet is reseated the processor, which I doubt is the problem because windows 98 runs fine. Any ideas would be appreciated.have you run scandisk yet?I have not yet, I am reinstalling windows 98 right now to see if it makes any DIFFERENCE, afterwards I will let you know here is a little more info about the pc:
Compaq SR1200NX motherboard put in another case 256 DDR 2700 ram AMD Sempron ProcessorYou may have faulty CPU/motherboard.if i have a faulty motherboard wouldn't windows 98 seize to work? Not necessarily, because the case, I've read about with a very same error, had intermittent CPU problem. Replacing CPU solved the problem. I can't assure you 100%, it's your case.Well I have put Windows NT 4 on there, I guess since this works i'll just leave it at that since its working, just a spare computer
