I don't believe anyone answered your previous question . . .the Celeron is a fair bit faster than the K6.
Not only is it newer but it's also a better class and a higher clock speed.
I have a 1GHz CPU from that era (Coppermine core Pentium 3) and it's not half bad.I really apreciate everyones help out here!
I am new to all of this and am amazed at how much this site is teaching me..Thanks to everyone with being patient and helpfull.
I am looking into taking a college program to become A+ certified, are there any online programs that are reputable??
Thanks all...Quote from: Calum on January 13, 2008, 01:44:44 PM

I was wondering the exact steps to setting up the new PC...I am hooking up my hard DRIVE into the Celeron PC...I take it that once i hook up the drive i will be prompted to format the drive and then upon doing so the CPU will recognize the new drive??
Why will the CPU not recognize the formatted drive,is it because something is built into the OS preventing it? and if so is there no way around that?
Thanks

Thanks..Maybe you could tell me why simply plugging in a new HD with an OS will not work???
Because XP is designed not to work if enough hardware is changed. I believe it's an anti-piracy feature.

No you will not be prompted to do that. Insert your XP install disc, it can format the drive for you.

What do you mean it's not recognized? Is it recognized by the BIOS when you power on the machine?

No. The drive will always be detectable, XP just wont be able to load properly. It will crash during the load if inserted into a computer with different hardware. Thanks alot...Yes it is recognized by Bios, just keeps crashing as you said, starting up then restarting....
I was wondering, the CPU is a celeron 1GHz Tualatin, and the MOTHER board is an ATX CM 33 TL SKT 370 DFI,...How much RAM can i put in,just 512 MBs??
Thanks1 gbThanksIt is crashing because the XP install was from another machine.
XP is not supposed to be moved from one machine to another...again this is by design. Thanks alot! I see now. I guess there is no way aroud it?
So now when i hook up the hard drive,i guess i put in the windows CD then take it from there?
Or follow my suggestion from above on a repair install of XP...
