Answer» Thanks for reading ..Im at my wits end with this lot so ANY help/advice would be great. When the computer is powered on, the internal power supply initializes. The power supply doesn't immediately provide power to the REST of the computer. First, it determines whether it can supply the proper voltages that the computer's components REQUIRE. The power supply sends out a POWER GOOD signal when it determines that it can supply reliable power to the rest of the computer. When the CHIPSET receives this signal, it issues a SYSTEM RESET signal to the processor.Have a read... http://www.zzine.org/node/411Your right it could be I suppose , Its a 550w made by 'ColoursIt' whoever they are ... To be Honest though, Im already £150 down on the new Motherboard & CPU ...and I cant justify spending another £40 on a new PSU unless I can be more sure .... and although the 'less demanding sytem' is older ( 2Ghz P3 ) its not that old really Is there anything else that could be causing these symptoms ? ..It it possible for a Faulty/Dead CPU to cause a totally dead system and somehow stop the power going through ?dancryer .....Quote Although it works fine in your old (less demanding) computer the PSU could still be the problem.I would suggest checking your PSU as Fed has already suggested ...... It is possible that 2 mobos and 2 cpus are duff .......but highly unlikely . Before this issue appeared , had you noticed anthing differant about the way the machine was running ? dl65 CPU over heating due to 1. A lack of thermal paste 2. To much thermal paste (almost as bad as none) 3. Heat sink improperly applied |
