Just a quickie to settle my mind. We PUT all our videos and pictures off our kaptop onto a portable hard DRIVE, MAXTOR 750GB. But im WORRIED if we get a virus on the PHD, and we'll lose it all .... again. Is it possible for the PHD to become infected, and how do we protect it / scan for problems ?Hey, I have a PhD too! Everyone can own a PhD this way!

Your virus scanner should be configured (USUALLY by default) to scan any station on your computer.
If not, you can scan it manually with most virus scanners.

What virus scanner are you using? Sorry its a 500GB Desktop storage thing ? Well we have MCafee, but we also have Drivesentry and Superantispyware. So do i just have it plugged onto my laptop when i do my weekly scans and it will do that ASWELL ?

I'm thinking that you can scan it whenever you find it necessary as well.. Most virus scanners offer an on-demand solution.

If you right click anywhere on a file or folder, does an option to scan that file/folder appear?
