Answer» I was playing a game tonight and all of the sudden my COMPUTER shuts off. It was as if someone had jst PULLED the plug on it. And every since it happened I have not been able to turn it back on. When I try it does nothing. All I hear is the power butten being pushed and that's it. Could this be a problem with my power source or could it be something else. thankscouple things to check:
- look to see if your powersupply has an extra plug (some do where you can connect the monitor) if it does try to plus in a monitor or a small appliance there like a radio. If it WORKS then we know you have juice.
- have you added a bigger videocard like a GeForceFX or 6000 line from nVidia? They generally require ALOT of power and most even have a plug to the powersupply itself.
- have you overclocked your system at all without upgrading to a bigger PSU (power supply unit)? OC'ing can cause all kinds of gremlins to pop up.
- do you have a problem with 'dirty power'? I.E> is the pc connected STRAIGHT to the wall and not a UPS (uniterruptible power supply unit, which kicks in whenever a brownout or power shortage occurs allowing you to save data/shut down safely by providing you with 'x' minutes of power)?
- check pc CASE for alot of dust bunnies etc. that may be causing your system to overheat, a can of compressed air will fix those (just be sure to do a quick-spray into your palm first to check for 1st time condensation coming out) and use short bursts to clear out the pc case.
