Answer» So I just got and built my new PC today and noticed a problem RIGHT off the bat. When I do a cold boot, the machine turns on for a split second, off for a couple, flicker again, wait, and then finally turn on. When I restart it only does it once. To be fair, sometimes it doesn't do this and boots up normally. This is what I got:
Intel i7 920 2.6 GHz Nvidia GTX 260 Maxcore Mushkin HP triple channel 3GB Western Digital 1TB HDD Samsung DVD burner ECS X58B-A Mobo OCZ GameXStream 700W ATX12V 24pin XION2 case
Any idea on what COULD be the cause of this? I'm thinking PSU, but I'm REALLY hoping not. Any help would be much appreciated.Did you remember to use all MBoard standoffs in assembling this ? ? Was Thermal paste applied corrsctly ? ? How old is the OCZ ? ?
To be perfectly honest the ECS would be my first suspect...I'm pretty sure I plugged in all possible connectors when setting it up. The obvious 24-pin ATX yes, there was a ATX8-pin connector which the PSU had 2 4-pin connectors for, and there was a 4-pin peripheral connection on the board as well. There is a couple of spots left on the mobo for 3-4 pin fan connectors, but that's about it. The OCZ is brand new, just came in last week. Also, I just used the stock paste that came at the bottom of the fan for the Intel. Other than that, I don't know what else to tell you, if you want any more information, just let me know.
Thanks again Quote Did you remember to use all MBoard standoffs in assembling this ? ? What's the return Policy on the MBoard ? ? For a few bucks more there are better choices out there...
