Solve : Possible to Upgrade RAM from DDR2 to DDR3?? |
|
Answer» Hello and good day. I would like to ask a technical advice to all PC experts. I have an LG laptop model LW70 Express whose specs (as per CPU-Z) are as follows: Processor = Intel Pentium M 760, Code name Dothan, brand ID=22, Speed=2.00 Ghz; Motherboard = LG Electronics model Hunter, Chipset=Intel i915PM/GM, Rev 03, Southbridge=Intel 82801FBM (ICH6-M); Memory = 2 x 512 MB (total 1024 Mb), DDR2, PC2-4300 (266 Mhz).
No Your laptop motherboard will accept only DDR2 But you might consider, UPGRADING in the sense of USING higher speed DDR2 modules See here: http://www.outletpc.com/c3146.html Disregard this link--- It's DDR3 I'm not sure what the total memory is that your laptop motherboard supports. If it supports 1 Gigabyte total, go with two 512 Megabyte modules. If two Gigabytes are supported, go with two 1 Gigabytes modules.. This will ensure dual channel capabilities in data transfer.. As opposed to single channel Just google around for the cheapest DDR2 SO-DIMM 533 MHz memory you can find, in the configuration I suggested Quote from: Bernee on April 01, 2010, 03:19:37 AM ...I have an LG laptop model LW70 Express whose specs (as per CPU-Z) are as follows: Processor = Intel Pentium M 760, Code name Dothan, brand ID=22, Speed=2.00 Ghz; Motherboard = LG Electronics model Hunter, Chipset=Intel i915PM/GM, Rev 03, Southbridge=Intel 82801FBM (ICH6-M); Memory = 2 x 512 MB (total 1024 Mb), DDR2, PC2-4300 (266 Mhz). ...Crucial doesn't list this model, so not sure what to suggest. www.crucial.comQuote from: EEVIAC on April 01, 2010, 04:40:09 AM
I would like to slightly rectify this statement. I'm not the most familiar person on which memory brands are BETTER, so going for the "cheapest" option, might not be the best idea. Opt for Mr. Commando's idea, but look for speeds of 533 MHz..From Kingston.com: LG Electronics LW70 Express Notebook PCTo all who gave technical advices and suggestions, thank you very much. The website of "crucial" was very informative and helpful.not possible. you would need a new motherboard to upgrade from 2 to 3.Quote from: wragh on April 06, 2010, 02:46:32 AM not possible. you would need a new motherboard to upgrade from 2 to 3. Did you even read the thread ?Probably not, it's a spammer.Only very rarely will you find a motherboard that takes more than one type of RAM the performance difference on your machine would be almost none anyways. Just max out on DDR2, you'll be fine |
