Answer» Yesterday there was a 5 second power interupt during a thunder STORM, my PC was on. After power came back the PC was dead...is it a simple problem like the power supply or more serious? It was plugged in the surge PROTECTOR . Everything else woks, monitor, printer. Thanks Unplug it from the wall socket for a short time then plug it back in & try booting. Your PSU may have latched out, if that fails swap out your PSU as a test.Some surge protectors have devices a bit like fuses which "die" to SAVE your equipment. They are called VDRs, voltage dependent resistors, and they can be destroyed during a surge caused by lightning strikes or power company switching.
