Answer» Power supply?
I’m not totally sure what’s wrong with my computer. I have a PM8M-V motherboard 3.0Ghz p4 CPU 2 GB RAM 6200 Graphics card Raidmax Stagitta case w/ 420W power supply.
I had everything set up in a case and got it to turn on in the BIOS but I lost interest and didn’t do anything with it for awhile. When I came to revisit I found that the power supply had died so I bought the new case. Well, it’s not turning on. Sometimes (about 20%) I’ll get the lights to come on the front for half a second, the fan sounds like it’s starting and then nothing HAPPENS. The power supply is set correctly to 115V. I don’t have a multimeter, though I suppose I could get one if I had to. Does this SOUND like it’s most likely a power supply problem, or did something happen to my other components? Maybe I magically don't have something hooked up right? I've checked and re-checked a million times though.
Suggestions: (1) You may want to consider purchasing 184-pin DIMMs along with your motherboard if your existing memory is not of this type. (2) Be sure that you are USING a Socket 478-compatible processor with this motherboard.
