Solve : Power Supply Quick Question? |
|
Answer» Ok I FIGURED out that my power supply can put out 250 watts max. I was wondering if i could put in a video card that requires 250watts?yes250 minus 250 leaves nothing for the REST of the machine! So are you saying i can or cant?not unless you run the rest of your comp of another power supply. Another thing to check is does it requier a peak of 250 watts of a constatan. If it is peak it is very risky if you vido cards gets working really hard you comp will crash because there isent enough power for anthing elese.starcraft2007..... How did you FIGURE out that you PSU is 250 watts ?
Re-read soybean's post...that is not what it means. And the brief moment has passed....I love this site. I have the utmost respect for all you guys! That was not a stab at Soybean.Always willing to learn. I am not an expert. Computers, Houses, Cars, boats, 250 amps, watts, volts, once demand surpasses supply, you are TOAST!!!!!!!!250watts is very puny for a gaming computer, I would seriously consider upgrading to a 400watt or greater power supply in the very near future, and not one those 24.99 ones either, spend a few extra bucks and get somthing of quality.starcraft2007...... LOL ....some of the replies are just too funny ........ A quick check resulted in this ..... for the card you mentioned ...... Minimum System Requirements Intel Pentium® III, AMD Duron™ or Athlon™ class processor or higher 128MB system RAM A 250W system power supply A motherboard with an available PCI slot 50MB of available hard disk space CD-ROM or DVD-ROM drive Windows® 98 or higher, ME, 2000, XP, or Windows® NT4.0 (Service Pack 5 or 6) VGA compatible monitor Now bear in mind thats the minimum....... So depending on what else you have installed , the 250 watt PSU might get you by. Check the link that soybean provided and you will know for sure. dl65 |
