Solve : power supply replacement?

Answer»

I need to replace my power supply on my computer but I READ somewhere on here you can't just get a new power supply off the shelf for pre-fab pc's. I have a DELL not sure about motherboard info. Reason for changing power supply is wanting to install video card that requires 250 W and I only got 200 W.http://support.gateway.com/support/manlib/cmponts/Process/8508750/08750c01.htm#1024702I KNOW how to change the power supply but I didn't know if I could just go buy one or if I needed a specific one but thanks for the link. What is the model or service tag number? You will need a different power supply, not made by Dell, but made for that Dell model. The wires can be different as WELL as the mounting screw locations. It is a Demension desktop 2400 series the service tag # is DQ17N41There are some replacement MODELS from other companies, but they may not be a whole lot bigger than what you have. Dimension 2400's are not really high end gaming platforms.
