Solve : Power supply shuts down?

Answer»

I read an article on how to GET a SWITCHING power supply to turn on when it's not hooked up to a mother board. Now I just have to FIND out how to keep the power supply from shutting down when I PLUG something into it(car stereo, 12volt r/c battery charger, etc.). If I plug the stuff in, then turn on the power supply on it works fine. But if I turn off say, the car stereo then turn it on again the power supply shuts down. How can I get around this? I'm using a 400 watt Powmax ATX Switching Power Supply. Can anyone help?Fed is the resident electrician. I suspect when you start with the things plugged in the power supply stabilises & gives you an output (like normal)

When you plug in or turn on after the supply is running, it senses the power drain as unstable & shuts down.

Why are you doing this, maybe there's another way?Why not simply use an AT PSU?
