Solve : Power Suppy + Vid Card issue?

Answer»

i have been running a geforce 8500 GT on my comp not knowing  i did not meet the SYS requirements for the power supply,
Power supply reuirements say 400 watts but mine only has 250w. Is this harmful to my comp? should i be upgrading my PSU?The card itself wouldn't use 400 watts. You need to determine the entire watt demand of ALL your hardware, not just your video card, then pick a power supply appropriate to that.Wow, a PSU that can't even run an 8500 GT..

Just GET a no-name brand 400-500w PSU. It should be very cheap.thx guys ill be going to bestbuy this weekend to upgrade my PSUlike a dynex 400 w. selling on amazon for $6.95 + 6.95 S&H the last time I checked.

That would be enough.Yep ...
I agree.
Give advice on buying the cheapest PSU you can find since it's only one of the more important components in a well built machine.
Heck just buy 3 of them and daisy chain them in case one fails.

I sincerely hope no one reading this heeds this kind of advice.

*sigh*

You really bring the intellectual level of this forum down, Homer.
So, I suppose your name suits you.. not to mention the fact that it's not spelled with a cap LETTER at the beggining. God, what an idiot.

BTW, anyone who still wants to refute that I know more about Hardware than the lot of you put together, can still do so, gladly. Just REMEMBER, silly internet pictures do not count as an intelligent response to an argument. The fact you've repeatedly stated that cheap PSUs is the way to go pretty much proves that you don't know as much about hardware as you think you do. The PSU is the single most important PIECE of equipment in a computer. Why? Because computer hardware is sensitive electronic equipment that is reliant on a stable supply of power. Cheap PSUs are notorious for not delivering the promised wattage or generating voltage spikes. Both of which can lead to unstable operation and shorten the life of your hardware.
