Solve : power switch harness colors?

Answer»

I have a CASE that has individual leads instead of plastic 2 pin connectors. I need help figuring out what colors go together so I can finish this build. Red, Orange, Yellow, White, Blue, Green. Any thoughts???Only thoughts as applies to my Gigabyte ep45 ud3r:
yellow = message LED
red = power
orange = speaker
blue = hard drive activity
green = reset
purple = not used

BUt I would look at the manual dowloadable from your mianboard supplier. Are the case connections obvious or hidden by routing?the 6 WIRES go to a small circuit board which houses the power switch. I would think that the wires would have to be PAIRED so that a positive and a negative are present. I just don't know which goes with which. The Asus A8V manual says blue is the reset. yellow is the power switch. red is the HD activity LIGHT lead. OK 3 down. that leaves green, white and orange. how do they pair up with red, yellow, blue?what make/model case?it's an old Compaq. I bought it as a starter system for the kids. now I want to upgrade the mobo. I have everything connected except these 6 wires.Look for a small triangle embedded on the wire lead connectors to position the motherboard connector pins correctly...Look for pin1 to be labeled on the motherboard as a small "1" embedded either to the left or right of the group of pins....Guessing is OK when connecting a wire to a connection......if it doesn't work no harm is done.......You can also get this info from the motherboard documentation.Quote from: krush68 on July 16, 2009, 07:56:05 PM
