Answer» Hi there guys,
Basically, just wondering, would having an Xbox 360 and 37" LG LCD TV running for maximum of an hour a day be noticeable on any household bills? This wasnt an issue last YEAR as I was mates with the people I was living with, now im living with some people that I dont really talk to. As much as im not really friends with the people this year I dont WANT to start running up a massive electricity bill. Ive Googled and it seems it shouldn't be too much of a problem, but speaking to other people yields different views. Any views here? Thanks
ChrisWithout knowing the consumption of the TV it is hard to say exactly how much the cost of running it would be, but assuming it was around 200 Watts for the TV (some 37 inch sets use less) and knowing that an X box uses around 120-175 watts depending on what it's doing, then you are maybe looking at around 400 Watts give or take. 1 hour a day for a whole quarter (90 days) is 90 hours x 400 Watts = 36000 Watt-Hours = 36 Kilowatt-Hours. A typical price in Britain for a kwH is around 15 pence so on a quarter's bill that would be around 5 pounds and 40 pence. Around a fiver on a QUARTERS bill. If this doesn't make sense then you're not a Brit like I thought you were, and you'd better wait for a Yank to come along, but the power consumption is STILL the same. No, your correct Salmon, I am from the UK. Thats very helpful. Thank you! For the sake of that much a quarter, I don't think there will be too much of a problem. Might just have a search on Google for the exact consumption of my TV
Thanks ChrisA bit of looking around leads me to believe that this TV is 180watts. So even less then predicted. This is great news!
