Solve : Powering up Problem?

Answer»

It's christmas time, and i got a new processor and a new case for christmas.

I install everything, plug everything up, turn the power supply on, press the on button.....

..... Nothing.

Was like, ok, i didn't plug something up. I check everything, try again, nothing.

Open it up, and look inside. Once i turned on the powersupply, the fans would spin once, stop, and two SECONDS later spin again.

I unplugged everything, and tried to just get it too boot up, same thing.

So i figured it was the power suplly, wen't out, bought a new one since my old one was still in warrentt...

Not it. Tried the new power supply on an old computer, not it.

Hooked everything BACK up same issue.

Unhooked everything, same issue.

So i have narrowed it down to two possible choices

1. Motherboard
2. Processor.

Now for a three...

Something minor i don't know about?

Thanks.A bad floppy drive can do that.
Maybe you were in a hurry and did not read all the information in the motherboard BOOK. Sometimes they ship with the jumpers not set right.
Did you forget the extra plug to the motherboard from the Power Supply?
Was the motherboard tested by the vendor before they sent it?
Not all do that for you.I don't have a floopy drive, and the processor is new, before this all the other parts where working. This was the same board that i was using.Thats why i either had to mess up the motherboard, or the processor, or i am not doing something right, like i said, i checked and rechecked everything, with no luck.Supercreck - Welcome to the CH forums.

You haven't given us much to go on, how about telling us your hardware setup especially the motherboard and new processor specs, we COULD at least then check compatibility.
