Solve : Printer drivers not installing?

Answer»

I have a old Dell AIO 926 and am unable to get the drivers to install from the OEM disc I'm also wanting to use this printer on a wired network. What can I do to get this to work? More information. What happens when you try to install the drivers? Tell us something about the computer. The computer I'm trying to install on is a Dell Dimension 3000. The OEM CD won't auto run so I have to manually try to get it to run. Even when I do get the CD to run I can't find the printer I've even had this problem when trying to install it on a Dell Dimension 2400 with that I could get the drivers to install but they would not stay installed after a reboot
Didn't really care about the brand of computer as much as the OS. And have you tried downloading the CURRENT driver from the web? Are you sure you are following the instructions for installing the driver (in many cases you aren't supposed to connect the printer to the computer until prompted by the install ROUTINE).

What do you mean they would not "stay installed after a reboot". Come on - provide COMPLETE data. The OS is Windows XP Home And have you tried downloading the current driver from the web? Couldn't find one Are you sure you are following the instructions for installing the driver (in many cases you aren't supposed to connect the printer to the computer until prompted by the install routine). Didn't have any instructions with itQuote

Note: Before proceeding with your driver installation we suggest you make sure you are installing the latest version available and for the appropriate model/revision and Operating System. We strongly suggest following 'readme' instructions for installing drivers when available. Often restarting your system will be necessary for the new driver to become active and start functioning properly.

Here...I've tried searching Dell's site and had no luck finding anything as far as windows it's running service pack 3clik the blue link in the post above...

You have more patience than I do. I gave up halfway thorough this thread.I've tried all of your suggestions and still get the message to plug in all the USB connections even though they are already plugged in. I really detest the idea of contacting Dell again their tech support is awful they always suggest a REFORMAT for most problemsYou're not listening.....

POWER down the machine.
UNPLUG the printers USB connection from the PC.
Install the software.
Plug the printer only when the setup app asks you to.now i am getting the message usb device not recognized now what do I doWell I FINALLY gave up and contacted Dell for a fourth time and got the problem solved And the funny part to this is since I'd been dealing with Dell all week they could find no record of it. Have a good labor day and thanks for the help.
