Solve : Printer Malfunction?

Answer»

I have a Canon i455 printer connected to my PC running onWindows ME. Last WEEK it printed twelve photos perfectly which I had just downloaded. I then wanted to type a letter from WORD but it would not oblige. When asked to print a test page the Windows motif is printed in the correct colours but although the printer sounds as if it is printing text, the page is blank.

I have been through all the suggestions in the help pages from both Windows and Canon without SUCCESS. I have today purchased two new ink cartridges and neither has cured the problem.

Can anyone help me please? Many thanks, Peter Edward.Do you know if the printer has print heads seperate from the ink cartridges? I've seen print head nozzles get plugged and lose a color. Looks like you have all color but BLACK right? For the fact that the test page showed the Windows Motif, but no text?

If not sure, open your printer lid if like 99% of other printers where the ink cradle will present itself to you at Center. TAKE a q-tip with a little rubbing alcohol and wipe the underside of the ink cradle . There might be 2 round objects at bottom which are the print heads for the Inkjet.

Higher end printers also have a button to push to purge print heads of obstructions and dried ink. Might be called Clean Print Nozzle or something like that. Otherwise in your printer properties it may have a Print Nozzle purge or clean feature.

Good Luck.. DAVE
