how do i set the options for my printer to print in black only
I have built a PC
ASUS mobo win 7 os, amd 9850 quad 500gb hdd Epson stylus 880 printer
window seven compatilibity said that II dont need any driver installed but without a
driver installed I have no options to change color or printing options It would be in the software you installed that was provided with the printer.with the win 7 and the old printer they were supposed to be compatible which they are to an extent. but the old software is not compatible with win 7
 Then GO to the website of the printer manufacturer and look for a newer driver.been there they dont have a driver for that old of printer for win 7

you're not looking for a you said the is incompatible. If they didn't make a version of the software that works with windows 7 you'll have to find an alternative. Windows itself has built in controls that are a LOT more efficient then most of the LITTLE applets that Printer Drivers often come with.
