Solve : printing on tractor-fed paper in Windows?

Answer»

Hi, I'm having problems getting Windows to print properly on a tractor-fed dot matrix printer. Seems like no mater how wide I SET the bottom margin, Windows always wants to print the footer on the top of the next page. Anyone else ever have a similar problem? I'm using Windows XP, but I recall having the same problem in 98 as well. My printer is an NEC Pinwriter P5200 and I'm using the Microsoft-supplied drivers, if that helps. When I had my old Epson Dot Matrix I had an issue like this, and what I had to do was edit the print properties for the document, margins etc, also fit to page etc had to be set otherwise simetimes the print would go over the 8.5" since it was a wide format dot matrix CAPABLE of 11 or 13" wide tractor stock. But it sound like you have already played with the margins.

Sometimes trying a generic driver for the printer can aso work, such as a base model or that model vs if your printer has extra FEATURES. Also get the latest driver frm the mfr and not the one that Windows Detects it to be.

Also had an issue where the URL was printing from the FIRST page onto the second page when printing through IE, and fixed this by editing the IE printing properties to exclude the URL.

OK, so I've changed the margins, the page size, and the drivers, and it still prints the footer at the top of the next page. I would just remove them and be done with it, but some classes require me to use footers on my documents.

I found one site that claims to have the driver for my printer for Windows XP, but they dubiously ask for money in return for the download.

Is there a printing utility that will allow me to choose how to center a page?Have the same problem with manual feed, apparently. The driver doesn't seem to take into ACCOUNT that the printer automatically sets the printhead at 1" down the page.
