Solve : Problem in DVD burning?

Answer»

I have recently bought BENQ DW1800 DVD writer. When I try to BURN any data in DVD disc using nero, it burns but give some error msg"error:cant write disc at once". When I INSERT that dvd disc again in DVD writer, it(dvd writer) unable to read the data in the Disc. When I try to write more data in disc, a error msg appears "not able to write data in an open disc". I could not write any DVD successfully since I have bought it. I have wasted 4-5 discs because of this error. Is the problem with DVD writer or DVD disc or Nero? Not Nero, because many people use that successfully. Is it a newer version?

It could be the burner. You could try it in another machine to see if th eproblem persists. If that is the case, return it. There is nothing you can do to fix it, and you don't have to try.

It could be the discs. What brand? Some drives are very particular. If you could borrow a different brand from a friend or two, that might help with the problem. Are these DVD+R,  DVD-R, DVD-RW or what? What speed are you burning at?I DOUBT it would be Nero as well unless it's an "ahem" version...

You could grab CDBurner XPPro though and try it...it's free. Quote from: GX1_Man on May 19, 2007, 03:39:24 AM

There is no problem in burning CDs, the problem is with DVD Discs. DVD is DVD-R type and the brand of DVD Discs is writex. http://www.writex.net/
I burn at Nero's auto defined speed. I dont define its speed myself. The Writex site only lists CDR's.  Apparently Writex does produce a dvd -r blank disk.
It would be interesting to hear from the OP , which version of Nero is being used .
The fact that they say it burns and cant be read is odd.

thakurlokesh ..........  What speed is the blank dvd media compatible with ........ 1*, 4*,8*or 16*

I dont define its speed myself, I burn discs at speed which nero deifines itself. I think it is 12.Try a different brand of blank media...certain burners only like certain brands. Quote from: patio on May 20, 2007, 04:44:27 PM

OK, I will try other good brand like sony.Whenever i buy a new burner i borrow, buy a blank media from everyone i know COVERING all the name brands and some generics....about 15 to 20 in alll.

I then do a test burn of a mixed media folder i saved for this purpose. It includes music, video, data and a few small apps and Zip files.

This lets me know which media to buy for that burner. Sometimes even the brands the manuf. suggest have problems. This way i know for sure.

Nothing worse than a spindle of 100 blanks that are worthless in your burner...
