Solve : Problem installing HP scanjet?

Answer»

Could somebody please help?
Recently upgraded my PC from Win 98 to Win XP. HP scanjet 4200C no longer worked so I downloaded appropriate software and driver. Student unfortunately uninstalled the scanner thinking he had to do so and reinstall it again, only to FIND that he is now unable to do so. How can I install this scanner that has been uninstalled? Why won't Windows XP let me install it?Control Panel>Add/Remove Hardware
let windows search for new hardware.hanks for replying but I can't get anywhere.
All I get is a message saying my scanner has not passed the Windows Logo testing to verfiy compatibility with WinXP

"Continuing installation my impair or destabilize correct operation of your system immediately or in the future. Microsoft recommends you stop installation and contact hardware vendor for software that has passed Logo testing"

.....SEEMS like I have to buy another scanner???I would Quote

"Contact hardware vendor for software that has passed Logo testing"
Try again>>http://www.softwarepatch.com/utilities/Appreciate your help. That is a great site.
No problems downloading the file, however I get to the end of the procedure  a message says -
"Fatal error setup unable to continue".
Once it said "Can't create output file"

Sorry everyone - I will come clean right now and admit you are dealing with a derhead here!   Does the scanner show up in device manager? If yes, right click on it and select PROPERTIES. Click driver tab, click update drivers. Click have disk. Insert HP CD and wait for it to load. Click OK.
