Solve : Problem with monitor?

Answer»

Yesterday I started up my computer (a Vista Home Basics) and it didn't show any image. All it did was static and then turn off. At first I thought it was the computer, but after transferring the monitor to the other computer, I found that the same thing happened and that it was the monitor at fault. After a few tweaks with the option buttons, it started to work again, only to stop working later in the day.

Please help, and thanks in advance!

P.S. I have a 19" widescreen monitor from Westing House Digital

Res. 1440x900I'm just going to MAKE a wild leap here and suggest you might want to replace the display. Quote from: ADG on August 26, 2009, 02:48:54 PM

I'm already using a different monitor right now, but for the sake of saving money, I want to reuse it for another time for maybe a new computer someday. I lost another monitor that way, and I don't intend to lose another.Okay, perhaps I don't understand. We've already established the display is shot - what is it you're asking?well sorry my FRIEND but if you used it on two separate machines and doesnt work on both my bet is that the monitor is shot and needs to be repaired or replaced! but let me ask you something does it just never come on or does it show your bios screen and then when it is supposed to boot it never shows the screen???Quote from: zonatedace on August 26, 2009, 03:15:45 PM

Well, yesterday it worked for an entire day, but around TEN o'clock at night some gray bars appeared and then it stopped working again. The monitor is BROKEN, thats that. Deal with it and get a new oneQuote from: computeruler on August 26, 2009, 03:26:59 PM

You maybe right, but the same thing happened yesterday and it started to work again. I'm just wondering if there's still hope for it.you COULD try a different cable.well the reason it may be working at some point is it may have a short.
