Answer» I have a Dell INSPIRON 5150 laptop computer with Windows XP.
The sound on my computer just will not play. This HAPPENED when I was watching a movie on my computer. I had the HEADPHONES in my ear and was under a blanket. A few minutes into watching the movie, my computer made like, a pop noise, and my headphones had shocked my ear. I'm thinking maybe the fabric on the blanket was too static-y for the headphones.
After that, that's when I noticed the sound on my computer was gone.
=(
Help !!I've seen this happen to people before. The static shock most likely shorted and ruined the sound card.
Since it's a laptop, there's no way to test the sound card in another system UNLESS it's a laptop with an identical sound card.
1. Send it in if it's under warranty
Or
2. Talk to Dell about getting a NEW sound card
Oh dear ....
well thanks for the help !!
hmmm ... just a quick question.
How much does the average sound card cost? For a desktop PC, anywhere from $10 to several hundred. But those aren't compatible with a laptop.i have a problem on my microphone, it keep saying that another program is using itPlease start another topic, Ec.
