Solve : Problems after Dell Laptop BIOS update?

Answer»
In case it helps anyone:

After COMPLETING a BIOS update on an older Dell Laptop (Inspiron 8100) recently, the computer rebooted and started properly, EXCEPT that it would freeze, every few seconds, for a few seconds. If you gave it enough time, it would make it all the WAY to WinXP and you could even work with windows normally. When I got to the BIOS, you could see the system clock itself freezing every few seconds, for a few seconds.

Calls to Dell tech support (both the domestic and the international) got me no where. I must have stripped that thing apart five times and tried EVERYTHING.

Finally, replaced the battery with another battery, same type. Systemed booted fine, no problems. Calling Dell to investigate and TELL them the solution, they hinted at the fact that some of their batteries, even with the exact model numbers, are not exactly the same and may or may not be compatible with newer BIOS.
