Answer» I have an old Aztech Sound Galaxy Washington 16 (FCC ID MMSN824) card that I've been using since 1994, it works fine in Windows but in dos the computer freezes up whenever any sound begins to play, music works fine.
I'm not using any dos drivers for this card, I have in the past used this card perfectly without any drivers but that was on a different computer.
My autoexec.bat:
SET BLASTER=A220 I5 D1 T4 LH mouse.com LH mscdex.exe /d:mscd001
Config.sys:
devicehigh=himem.sys dos=high,umb devicehigh=emm386.exe ram devicehigh=oakcdrom.sys /D:mscd001 files=30 buffers=30
I do not remember what I used for the SET BLASTER line in the past so I am just trying different values but I STILL get a crash anytime any digitized sound beings to play. Aztech does not have any drivers for this card on their website, I have contacted them to see if they could provide some.
Googling for drivers did not help as all of them are for win3.1/9x.
I used the autodetect feature in the games' setup to input the values for the sound settings btw.
Any suggestions?Star Crusader, other games like Syndicate WARS will not detect any digitized sound card at all.The motherboard does have an ESS onboard sound card which I disabled in the bios, it is a Pentium 1 133MHz with 64MB of EDO RAMThe onboard ESS sound card requires drivers for dos it appears. Neither of the games will detect it at all for music or sound. The problem is that I have no idea what model ESS sound card it is and windows is not very specific. I have win98 installed on this machine, is there any utility that I can use to get the model number?
I can not find the ESS chip on the actual motherboard either.Drivers;http://http://www.mainboard.cz/sound/aztech.htmhttp://

That website does not have any drivers on it, only links to other website that I've been to already.I got sound working using a Creative LIVE Value PCI card and the SB16 Emulation drivers from Creative. Sound works in Syndicate Wars but when trying to START Star Crusader, it just sits there frozen before doing anything
The game works fine if I set it to no sound.
I know I've used the Washington Galaxy 16 card to play this game in dos before but I just can't get it to work right as I mentioned above ;/
