Solve : Problems installing Radeon graphics card?

Answer»

Hi, I'm trying to install a x1300 Radeon graphics card by Sapphire/Ati into my computer. I have no disk for it so I downloaded the drivers from Sapphire 2x and from AMD once and keep geting this message when installing "Setup was unable to find components that can be installed on your current hardware or software configuration. Please make sure you have the required hardware or software" I FOUND the omega drivers site and downloaded them and they installed but card still dosent work.
When I plug in the card (both with and without installing drivers) all I get is a screeen with colored vertical lines before BIOS. It will blink from this to black and back again but nothing beeps or anything.
I emailed AMD for help but they just told me to try manual instal of the drivers but that didnt work either.

I am at a loss for what else to do or try?

My system info under display adapters is SIS 650
I dont have an other sections
Sound, video and game controllers is:
Audio Codecs
Legacy Audio Drivers
Legacy Video Capture Devices
Media Control Devices
MPU-410 Compatible MIDI Device
Realtek AC'97 Audio
Standard Game Port
Unimodem Half-Duples Audio Device
Video Codecs

Its a MSI 6533G motherboard, Intel Pentium 4, SIS 650 chipset and 1 GB of memory

I'm going to try and update BIOS now but I welcome ANY suggestions!
Thanks!!Are you sure the card is good? Have you hooked up the power to it if it is required? Tried it on another computer? Enabled it in bios? Also check to see if you might have disturbed your Ram cards while you were installing the video card. Make sure they are seated properly.Hi, The rams fine and there are no power cords. I tried in in another completely differant computer with a working video card (took it out to try this one) and got the exact same thing. As soon as the monitor powers up it is a blue/greenish screen with vertical lines running thru it. I don't get a bios screen or anything. I've tried updating all the drivers I can find for my motherboard and tried Bios and resetting defult but nothing changes. The fan on the card comes on so it's getting power at least.

Is there anything else I can change or try? I bought this card off eBay on a whim and there no returns. Sounds like you got a bum card. Was the card described as working by the seller? If so you can file a significantly not as described (SNAD) claim with paypal or if purchased with CC you can do a charge back. Try to contact the seller & see if you can resolve the issue first.Quote from: starfillybaby on January 25, 2009, 02:17:27 PM

If he got the same problem with the other working graphics card then there most likely isn't a problem with the new one he has.
joevh09.....I think you need to reread his post again. Quote from: 4fingerlid on January 25, 2009, 07:58:29 PM

My fault there i guess.... I misunderstood his post and originally thought he said he tried the known good graphics card in the computer that had the problematic new card and i figured it wasn't his graphics card that is having the problem.
So i guess you were right.
Scratch the earlier post of mine then.I tried the non working card in a computer that had a working card. I got the same blue lined screen before Bios on each computer. I'm going to try one more time on my moms computer that has never had any graphics card in it and see what happens but I'm assuming the card is bad. Or at least it sure aint working for me anyway. And That SUCKS! I HATE wasteing money. It's only $30 but still thats money wasted! I just poped a bid on this card while looking at others and was surprised when I won it. I had forgotten all about it. The listing states no returns but the guys description is below so I'm sure sure if it would qualify as a SNAD?

"Sapphire ATI Radeon X1300 8x/4x 256mb graphics card.Selling as is because I've never used it.I bought it used from a friend to use in a computer I was putting together for my daughter but got her a laptop and just never did anything with it.The friend I got it from assured me it worked fine. The cables are all in the box but there is no disc. All the drivers can be downloaded at the Sapphire website.External connectors from card include 15 pin D-shell(female)VGA OUTPUT,DVI-I Output,TV-Out with S-Video connector(TV-Out Version),VIVO with S-Video connector(VIVO Version),HDTV Display Support(requires HDTV cable). To get more info on this card you can visit Sapphiretech.com.Operating System-Vista,XP,XP x64 Edition and Media Center Edition 2005.All sales are final. "
Ok, I emailed the seller (who didnt use the card) and he says it needs a power cord like my hard drive but there is no similar adapters on the card and nothing I see says anything about it. I'll include a link directly to the page from Sapphire [url][http://www.sapphiretech.com/us/products/products_overview.php?gpid=124&grp=3/url]
I have a AGP4X slot in my mb which is : [url][http://www.msicomputer.com/product/p_spec.asp?model=MS-6533GL&class=mb/url]

Is there a compatilibty lissue I'm not seeing or a cord or something? Anything?

Thanks! After looking at the pictures of your card it appears there is a small 4 pin power connector on the corner of the card. It looks similar to a floppy dricve power connector.OK, I fully admit my shameful stupidity! I had SEARCHED the cables in the computer but didn't see a fitting connector until your post and I looked again and found it hiding in the direct center of the bundle of wires hidden until I really ran my fingers through it. Connected the 4 pin connector and bingo!! Everything works! It installed properly and I turned bright red with embarrassment/anger!

Thanks so much for your help and support with this issue! I am ashamed to admit I would have probably given up!

My grateful Thanks!!

WillaYour quite welcome!
