Solve : Procesor cache?

Answer»

As my laptop (toshiba tecra M1) is TOTALLY out dated and literally falls apart (screen needs to be supported, boxes are falling of,...) I'm REALLY in need of a new laptop.
So I went to the site of dell and found the Dell VOSTRO 17
with this setup
Code: [Select]PROCESSOR Intel® Core™2 Duo Processor T5870 (2.0 GHz, 2 MB L2 Cache, 800 MHz FSB) bewerken
BESTURINGSSYSTEEM Legitieme Windows Vista® Ultimate SP1 - Nederlands bewerken
VERZENDINGSDOCUMENTEN Nederlands - Documentatie voor Vostro-laptop bewerken
TOETSENBORD Internal Keyboard - Belgian (AZERTY) bewerken
LCD-SCHERM 17-inch WXGA+-breedbeeldscherm (1.440 x 900) met niet-schitterende coating bewerken
GEÏNTEGREERDE WEBCAM Glanzend zwart zonder CAMERA bewerken
GEHEUGEN 4.096 MB 667 MHz Dual Channel DDR2 SDRAM [2 x 2.048] bewerken
HARDE SCHIJF 250GB (7200rpm) SATA Hard Drive with Free Fall Sensor bewerken
GRAFISCHE KAART 256 MB NVIDIA® GeForce™ 8600M GS (128-bits) grafische kaart bewerken
OPTISCH(E) STATION(S) Fixed Internal 8X DVD+/-RW Slot Load Drive including Software bewerken
HOOFDBATTERIJ 8-cel lithium-ion hoofdbatterij (77 W/h) bewerken
for the price of 840euro.
Now I'm thinking of upgrading the processor to: Intel® Core™2 Duo Processor T8100 (2,10 GHz, 3 MB L2-cache, 800 MHz FSB)
But it costs 50euro more, is it smart to do that?
And an other thing isn't it STUPID to have a processor with 800Mhz and a RAM that only has 667MHz?

Thanks in advance

Jonas For €50, I don't think that upgrade is worth it.
The T8100's main advantages are a slight clock speed and L2 cache advantage, plus better power saving features.
As for the RAM speed, it's not really important.
Hope this helps.
