Solve : processor info changes?

Answer» HELLO all

Just bought a second HAND laptop
its a compaq armarda e500
p3 1ghz 256 ram 20 gig hdd

when i turn it on , on BATTERY alone and check system info...... start/acessories/system tools/system information it says that the processor is a ....x86 family 6 model 8 stepping 10 genuineintel 696 mhz.
but when i plug it in the wall and do the same thing ie:start etc etc it says its a .......x86 family 6 model 8 stepping 10 genuineintel 996 mhz.
Is that normal with laptops?  i just find it strange that the processor speed changes depending on what power supply i choose  to start the computer with

If ANYONE knows why i'd like to know what it is

THANKS
ooz

It was designed to function that way. The lower speed on battery is meant to reduce heat and conserve battery power.
