Solve : Proliant RILOE virtual CDROM problems?

Answer»

Hi,

I've just installed a RILOE II remote management card into my server, and I can remotely power on and off my server, and SEE the console remotely. However I have 2 problems with the Virtual Media options

1) It says in the manual that you can select an ISO file on your client machine from where you are running the BROWSER as the Virtual CD, but there is no box to enter the filename in the CD section of the window. (There is for a virtual floppy) They even show a picture of the GUI in the manual which doesn't have the filename box!

2) If I USE Virtual CDROM on my laptop to mount the ISO as drive Z: and then tell the RILOE to use my PC's drive Z: as the virtual CD for the server, when the server boots it doesn't see the CD (If I climb into the attick and put a physical CD in the physical drive, it does boot from it so its not a BIOS setting)

Anyone got any ideas?

BTW. The server is a ProLiant DL760 G2 with a RILOE II card. The OS on the server is VMWare ESXi 3.5u4 (although that should be irrelevant) and the ISO image I'm trying to boot from is the FW 8.0 Maintenance CD for ProLiant servers. (as an experiment I've also tried using the ISO image for the VMWare ESXi 3.5u4 installation CD).SOLUTION: This card doesn't support virtual CD
