Solve : Property problem keeps returning even after reformatting!?

Answer»

I had a problem with my explorer see Here
and Here
Now I reformatted the C: drive and eventually I had to format ALL drives.
The problem stayed away for a day but after I installed the SP2 and some other updates I wasn't able to get to the properties of a drive.
I think it is an hardware problem but that doesn't make any sense?!
It is the only problem.
My previous harddrive crashed that make sense but this?!
Can it be because it is not the original drive? It worked fine for a 6months.
I don't know what else I can do.
Can someone solve this or at least explain why this is happening.

Thanks in advance

Jonas

Can you open My Computer? See your hard drives there? If you right click on a drive, is Properties an option?I can open my computer and I can see the harddrives but I can't right click on them because the it freeses.
same with using the file tap methode.

same with using the file tap methode.
What's that?(Edit:This is a file tap (not the one of windows explorer but this is an example))

Sorry for the bad explanation.

Jonas Well, the image you posted is from Internet Explorer, not My Computer. You wouldn't be able to view hard drive properties from there.

Since you've just FORMATTED and installed Windows, how does Device MANAGER look? Any yellow triangles or red X's? there are two kinds of explorer in windows.

internet explorer is a browser platform/software for internet use

windows explorer which is for looking at the drives/software/ anything and everything in your computer.

you should be able to see all installed harddrives / cd / dvd drives and floppy usb drives in windows explorer

click start/ then All Programs/ then Accessories / then Windows Explorer
which is the same as
click start / then My Computer which is another microsoft USAGE name for windows explorerNo this was just as an example of a file tap.
I know I have to open the drive properties in the windows explorer.
And I'm handling the yellow question marks of device manager but that won't be a problem I did it before sow why should I be able to do it now.
I'm quite sure it is impossible to heal it but I just want to know WITCH device is causing the problem.

Jonas Well, I'd concentrate on fixing all the problems in Device Manager and then see where you stand. You may need to go back and start over with formatting and installing Windows. The only question mark in the device manager is of my webcam but that will be fixed soon.
I don't believe that reformatting will solve this.
Because it didn't in the first place.

Jonas After formatting and re-installing did you re-install the MBoard drivers ? ?

If so go to Device Manager and expand IDE/Atapi Controllers...
Select Primary IDE controller, right click it and select remove...ignore the warning and re-boot.

When the MACHINE finishes booting open My Computer and right clik on C:...and see if it's any better. Its called primairy IDE channel but it is the second of my list is this the one?

Jonas What is the first on the list? What is the whole list?

What does "file tap" mean?
For the file tap recheck the topic I've edit some comment.
This is the whole list:
I still have on driver left but I 'll find that eventually. (the one of the webcam)

Jonas
so a "tap" is a menu?

Is your hard drive an IDE or a SATA?
