Heya,
I got a NEW power supply today and I plugged it in to see if it would power up. No, It;s not hooked up or in the case I just wanted to see if it worked. It does nothing. Is it bad or is it a safety feature?, and will work when I hook it to th mobo ?

I would have to guess that there is something wrong with it, so until someone with more experience in this field comes along why dont u call them up and ask whoever u bought it from.Kingwin abt-520cw. This is the first power supply I have bought. I figured it would just fire right up out of the box. There are no instructions. no nobs, swithches, its modgular I thought mabye it just had to be hooked to mobo in order to work, wich I cant do because my case is not here yet.yes, it does have to be plugged into the mobo for it to worklmao was just gonna post and say that ! Tested it on my other PC. A-OK It's my first build and all IM missin is the case. Better work after 1600 bones. See ya soon with more nOOb questions )I think the 3 of us got a little wiser today.
