Solve : PS2 error message - can you help me get rid of it??

Answer»

When switching on the computer I get the message that PS2 mouse failed to initialise, press any key to continue.

I changed to a wireless keyboard and mouse and stupidly threw away the old PS2 mouse before removing it from the hardware list/programs.

In device manager there is only the new cordless mouse.
Scan for hardware changes does not bring anything up.

Do I have to edit the registry or is there any other way to get rid of this message?

I've tried scan registry for errors with Glary and TUNE up

F I have to edit the registry what do I do?

Everything WORKS normally - my only problem is that every time the computer boots it stops, showing the error message and I have to press a key so it continues to boot - just a mild inconvenience, but annoying! Can you try another PS/2 Mouse?

I'm not sure, but can you get into the BIOS and have a look around for PS/2 devices.
If there are any, post here what they are before doing anything.Quote from: Carbon Dudeoxide on September 20, 2008, 09:39:57 AM

Haven't GOT another PS2 mouse.
Couldn't see any PS2 devices in BIOS - where did you think they might be hiding?
