Answer» Hello! I recently got a new computer with a thermaltake toughpower 750 watt psu (about to get SLI) From what I have read, unless you have like a 32 in. monitor, SLI is a waste of money at best, where did you hear this? Quote I have yet to hear someone say SLI is a good idea, and hundreds that say it is a bad idea. from what i have read, it only ADDS about 40% of a performance increase. IMO, buying a second $500 dollar card for an extra 40% is not worth it.It was on another forum. I don't know if they are right or not. here is a clip of one post, and the link it points to. http://www.hothardware.com/printarticle.aspx?articleid=792 SLI is pointless unless you have money to burn for 2 of the highest-end cards and a big display that can use that power. Getting 2 low/mid-end cards like you're contemplating just means you spend extra to get something that at best is marginally better than a single card of the same or a bit cheaper price, uses more power, and is often substantially worse (SLI doesn't always work well, you know) This article shows you why. 2 8600GTS cards, in an ideal situation, slightly edge out an 8800GTS. In a LOT of games they get absolutely destroyed. Why pay extra for uneven performance that either slightly edges out a 1-card alternative or gets absolutely destroyed? It MAKES no SENSE at all. Just save your money and get an 8800GT.Allright thats a good idea, to get zip ties and hide them in the 5,25" bays OK, well i'll consider the SLI thing for a while (if i would get SLI, it would be in the summer) Thanx for the help!
