Yes, the VERSION of Windows on the Toshiba was sold to the manufacture as a OEM and nuns on Toshiba with no problem. For a Compaq you need the HP OEM version of windows. If you do not have it, you can contact Microsoft and they will sell you a product key for your computer. Also, what you did is not recommended. The chip drivers for a Toshiba and a Compaq are different. You will need to go to the HP site for the night drivers.
