Answer» i have a dell studio 1537 with EVERYTHING in it is factory and i got a few years AGO. someone dropped it and the screen broke. i needed to know if there was a way to force a secondary monitor as the main monitor on the start up (i have both a TV with a HDMI port and an older computer monitor with a vga cable built in) What os is it. : win xp,vista, win 7Look in BIOS, F10 at Dell splash screen.Look for keyboard FUNCTION key(Fn) and the monitor symbol or icon(F4,F7...) on to enable external monitor. Here is an alternative solution that WILL void your warranty-Disconnect the internal monitor cable inside your laptop. The display will DEFAULT to the external VGA connector.
