Solve : RAM configuration - 2 sticks of 8GB or 4 sticks of 16GB??

Answer»

If I were to get 32GB of RAM, is it better to get 4 sticks of 8GB or 2 sticks of 16GB? I'm thinking 2 sticks becasue there's less "MOVING parts" ie. POSSIBILITIES for something to go wrong. Is there any other way to THINK about this? No.I go for fewer sticks but it has nothing to do with the reasons mentioned.

2 sticks of 16GB means you could buy another set of the same two sticks later and upgrade to 64GB. Whereas, If you get 4 sticks of 8GB, You would need to replace memory sticks in order to upgrade further.  And then you have the old memory sticks just sitting around doing nothing.
Yes, like my incompatible RAM recommended for a build by PC Partpicker. ThanksNever rely on their recommendations...sorry you found out the hard way. Quote from: jonnyD on JANUARY 21, 2021, 01:04:21 PM

Better to go with a 2x 16GB configuration!
