Answer» I just got a 512 MB RAM stick and I put it in my computer and tested it out. Well I've come to FIGURE out that I have to go by myself ANOTHER 512MB of RAM in order for it to work properly. Before I did anything to my computer I had 512MB of RAM. I have 2 264MB RAM cards. I tryed taking out 1 264MB RAM card and then putting in my new 512MB RAM card with my older leftover 264RAM card, because I have two 264MB RAM cards. I have that kind of computer that has to equal amounts of memory in each slot for it to work.
So after I figured that out I took my new 512MB RAM stick out and put the 264MB RAM stick back in with the other 264MB RAM stick.
Now I get this stupid little box that says "Microsoft .NET Framework" and it says something like " An unhandled exception has occurred in your application. Click continue and application will ignore this error and attempt to continue. Object reference not set to an instance of an object. "
So I click continue and the box will not go away.
Any help on installing RAM correctly? Can anybody help me fix this problem?
Because I'm getting another 512MB of RAM stick later and I'm going to remove both 264's. Because my computer has to have equal amounts of memory bandwidth in each slot. There's no such thing as a 264MB RAM stick.
I'm not sure what you are on about; the Microsoft.net framework error is not related to your RAM. Unless you damaged it. Diagnose it using Microsoft Memory Diagnostics(Click)People are so un-educated abt PC hardware now a days..
Did u really buy a 512MB RAM stick while not knowing exactly if it would work or not?
You cannot have 1x 512MB and 1x 256MB sticks on the same channel and im guessing u have only 2 slots for memory, right?
Your only hope for having more then 512MB total PC RAM, is buying another 512MB stick, but then u lose money on the 2x 256MB sticks, so UD have to sell them.
This time it didnt cost u, but next time research whatever u intend to buy, or ask anyone in the store, please.yea i know i have to buy 1 more 512 RAM stick. the guy in the store said i had to. but there were all out, i bought the last 512 RAM stick in circuit city.i just got the new 512 RAM stick and put it in with the other one. But nothing pops up saying I have to install it. But I LOOK at system specs and it says I have 1 Gig of RAM. Any help? Or am I all set?RAM doesn't need to be "installed" Congratulate yourself on doing it properly and enjoy your new speed demon...
