Answer» Hey guys, this is my first post here, Im loving the help others got! looks great!
Ok, I have minimal computer knowledge so bare with me, ill explain it the best I can.
I recently bought some new ram for my comp. I downloaded PC wizard 2007 to help keep up with my computer temps (I PLAY games on my comp).
Well anyways, when looking at all PC wiz was telling me, it said this about my ram:
DDR-SDRAM PC-3200 @ 200 mhz (3-3-3-8)
I have 2 1024 sticks, but the ram is suppost to be 400 mhz, not 200 mhz. I feel that i could be getting MUCH more out of my computer if i get this ram running to its full potential. Help please! How can i get it to run at 400 mhz?
A FRIEND of mine said it might be my motherboard. I have windows XP perfessional, my motherboard is a biostar P4M800 Pro-M7 (yes crappy i know sorry :-/). The manual says it supports ddr 400 mhz ram so im not sure whats going on
It's twice pumped. 2 x 200 = 400
If you want to learn a little bit more about your computer and you have a mother board manual.... Go to the SECTION that covers BIOS settings and have a look at the settings and explanations. The area you ask about is typically in "Advanced Chipset Features"
If you have a manufactured computer (Dell, HP etc) you MAY not have that sort of detail in the manual. In that case there may be an online manual for your mobo.Oh, lol im stupid slowly learning! thanks!
