Solve : RAM upgrading issues?

Answer»

I have an MTI P45 NEO 3 motherboard with 4 DIMM slots. I currently have 4GB of RAM in 2GB increments in slots 1 and 3. I'm using PATRIOT Viper Series DDR2 PC2-8500 1066MHz. When I built this computer the original 4 worked fine but when I bought 4 more GB of the exact same RAM and inserted them the computer wouldn't boot. I'm running Vista x64. Any help would be great!Any error beeps? Have your components checked to see if all are seated well..
Components were seated and no error beeps. Computer just wouldn't boot. I had read SOMETHING else about dual channel memory requiring different capacity in bank 1 over bank 0. If that's the case I don't know how I'm going to get this to 8GB total.Try to insert your RAM sticks ONE at a time and on different slots.. So that we will know it is not the RAM or the slot that causes your computer not to boot.It works better if you use slots 1 and 2 INSTEAD of 1 and 3. I upgraded my parent's computer and the Slots 1 and 3 failed. I fixed it with slots 1 and 2. This may be on all Intel Chipsets Quote from: neelchauhan on June 18, 2009, 03:54:12 PM

Depends on the MBoard....but we don't know that yet.
