Solve : RAM usage?

Answer»

Hi I'm just wondering..

how many RAM usage should be typically used by simply turning on a computer? w/ running nothing aside from an avast! anti virus on the background? Mine sometimes goes up to 34% in the RAM meter and never goes down.

1G ram
Intel Pentium 2.55GHz
Nvidia 8600 GT 1G
Windows 7

I've checked my task manager and have not seen anything fishy. While playing fb applications, my RAM meter goes 90% and up. When I check my task manager, the firefox has the biggest CPU usage with 14%. What do you think? Quote

You're perfectly fine.

If you have a lot of addons, fairly OK.My brothers usually run up to 4 facebook account playing flash heavy games. It usually lags most of the time. I know that was normal but its just kind of odd for me whenever I play using just one account running 3 diff games at the same time and it still happens. I'm thinking that my PROCESSOR heats up(since it is not located in a well ventilated place and w/ no cpu fan) causing it to slow down. Or maybe its just my RAM. I let my computer on w/o running anything aside from my anti virus just to test if it is just my RAM. Cause if so, I would then just buy an additional RAM. **I'm running only one stick of RAM which adds up to my idea that its the RAM that slows things.** or maybe I just got used on using computer w/ BIGGER RAM like about 6G ahehe.

oh by the way, I remember always seeing an icon in the systray saying "windows back up in progress". I already disable it last week seeing its the one slowing my computer at that moment. Whenever I click that icon, the back up windows open and it shows that my computer doesnt backs up yet it always shows on my systray.i dont have any add ons by the way. I dont even have the "download em all!". flash and java add ons are all i have. by fb i mean facebook.I would say you should probably upgrade the RAM, since the minimum system requirements for Windows 7 is 1 GB.yeah,, I agree.. i just thought that maybe I'm missing something else. I guess, its really the ram. I'll buy another one LATER this week i guess.. Thanks for the help guys.. Quote

This means you have only turned it off for your current session...
Any re-boot will re-start it.

Win 7, like Vista will run much better with 2gigs.In a perfect world, your system would always utilize 100% of your installed ram.okay. Got it. Thanks for the replies guys! Now about to buy additional RAM for my brothers' pc after work.
